Chimax has established a strong presence in the Yukon through its ongoing work with Yukon Energy under a Master Service Agreement. The firm has completed several transmission line projects, including the detailed design of a 180 km, 138 kV line serving remote communities. Chimax continues to support Yukon’s transmission and distribution network through ongoing engineering services, reflecting its commitment to reliable infrastructure in challenging and remote environments.
Winchester West Distribution Station
Chimax is providing comprehensive detailed engineering services to Elexicon Energy for the design and development of the Winchester West 44 kV distribution station. Prior to detailed design, Chimax also completed the feasibility study, preliminary engineering, and environmental assessment for the Winchester West 44 kV distribution station for Elexicon Energy.
OPG SMR 500 kV Transmission Line
Chimax is supporting the development of critical transmission infrastructure by providing detailed design for a double-circuit 500 kV transmission line linking the SMR station at the Ontario Power Generation Darlington site to a Hydro One station. The project incorporates lattice steel structures, for which Chimax is undertaking full structural design in addition to the detailed line design.
Transmission Line Design for NB Power
Chimax continues to support NB Power through the detailed design of two (2) 138 kV transmission lines. As a trusted partner under a Master Service Agreement (MSA), Chimax has completed multiple transmission line projects for NB Power, reinforcing its experience and consistency in delivering high-quality engineering services.
Transmission Line and Collector System Design for Renewable Projects
Chimax has completed detailed transmission line design for several renewable projects connecting the project substations to the provincial transmission grid. Over the years, Chimax has completed detailed design of over 2,500 km of transmission lines connecting wind and solar projects to the transmission system. Currently Chimax is supporting the development of renewable energy infrastructure in Nova Scotia by providing detailed design services for a 230 kV transmission line and a 34.5 kV overhead collector line serving 22 wind turbines. Working directly with the project developer, Chimax is undertaking the full detailed engineering design for both line systems to facilitate efficient power collection and transmission.
115 kV and 230 kV Transmission Line design for PUC in Sault Ste. Marrie
Chimax has successfully delivered feasibility study, preliminary engineering, and detailed design for two transmission lines (115 kV and 230 kV) in Sault Ste. Marie. These new lines are critical to supporting the expansion of Algoma Steel’s facility, enabling the company to significantly increase its steelmaking capacity and enhance operational efficiency.

Chimax has established strong working relationships with utilities across the Greater Toronto Area through multiple Master Service Agreements. The firm has delivered, and continues to support, a diverse portfolio of overhead and underground distribution line design projects, including infrastructure refurbishments, new builds for industrial customers, and network expansions to accommodate growing residential developments.
400 Series Highway Crossing Design
Chimax has significant experience in the design of complex distribution crossings over Ontario’s 400-series highways, including double- and triple-circuit configurations. In the Greater Toronto Area, these projects have been executed using self-supporting steel monopole with deep caisson foundation and composite pole structures. All such crossings are engineered using PLS-CADD, ensuring precise modelling, safe clearances, and optimized structural design. These designs were completed for multiple Ontario utilities.
Imperial Oil-Kearl Oil Sand transmission and distribution design
Chimax has been a long-term engineering partner to Imperial Oil since 2010, delivering design services for overhead transmission and distribution infrastructure. The scope includes line relocation projects, new builds, and system modifications, supporting the client’s evolving operational and infrastructure requirements.
Distribution Design for transit expansion
Chimax is providing engineering services for overhead distribution line design at multiple locations in and around Toronto to support major transit infrastructure projects. In addition, Chimax has successfully delivered multiple overhead and underground distribution line designs connecting to customer-owned substations across various sites, demonstrating experience in complex urban utility coordination and infrastructure integration.
